Upcoming Workshops at Author E.M.S.

As many of you know, or might not know for that matter, I'm a co-instructor at Author E.M.S. I don't use my pen name however, but it's me. :) This site is a great site for all authors to bookmark. I'm not saying that just because I work with the amazing and awesome Amy Atwell. AEMS is Amy's baby. It's a site where you can learn to treat your writing like a business. This isn't a place to mention craft as important as it is. :) We discuss all things related to becoming a publisher if you choose to self-publish and how to set up a business period. There are resources for locating freelancers, how to obtain and ISBN, how to register it and the copyright of your book. There are links on promoting your books, on effectively using social media and loads of other information in the library. It could take you hours to browse through it. Good thing there's an awesome search feature. :) It's so important for me to stress that Author E.M.S. isn't a place just for indie authors, but for all authors. Whether you write fiction or nonfiction, are an indie author or a New York Times bestseller, we have something for every author. :) There are also other services provided by Author E.M.S., such as Apple formating and uploading service for those who wish to upload directly to the iTunes store. You can also pay a fee to receive month-long access to a searchable reviewer database of over eight hundred reviewers. Then of course, are the workshops we offer. These services won't break the bank. Coming up in January, we're hosting our four-week course, Intro To Self-publishing. Here's the info. Course Details Self-publishing provides an amazing opportunity for authors to take control of their own publishing career. It’s also a lot of hard work. This four-week lecture series and discussion group is designed to teach students about the process of self-publishing books digitally and in print. When an author chooses to self-publish a book, it means supervising the production and distribution process. We’ll cover all the basics from the perspective of building a successful, long-runninng business: basics of self-employment models: sole proprietor, LLC, corporation protecting your privacy if you write under a pseudonym registering copyright obtaining ISBNs and when they’re necessary finding and working with freelance editors, formatters and cover artists distributing directly to retailers vs using aggregators or publishing services where and how to sell your book building a basic timeline and budget best practices for building your self-published book is self-publishing really for you?
